Frustrated at the Taiwan Social Services - final ruling delayed even longer now

Just got off the phone earlier today with my wife. She had a really bad day today. After waiting two weeks, she went in for our scheduled court appearance today as requested by the judge.  The judge told her the court is not responsible for the errors in the decree but Taiwan Social Services.  So they are unable to make the changes.  The appearance lasted 5 minutes.  She traveled over 3 hours one way on two buses and train for something that could have been told over the phone.

On her 3 hour commute back home - she called Taiwan Social Services and told them what the judge said.  They had the nerve to blame my wife - that comment really threw her overboard. These errors were made by the social workers that were assigned to our case. Making a Taiwanese woman angry is a no-no.

She unleashed it on him because they blamed my wife for:

• not knowing our home address back in the US
• not knowing our birthdays
• not knowing where I worked
• not knowing my occupation
• not knowing her income
• not knowing where her brother worked and his occupation
• not knowing where my brothers worked and their occupations

My wife emailed our US home study and Chinese translation after he visited our home in Taiwan back in July.  She received confirmation from him that he received it and everything was in good order.  Our translation was perfect with no errors, it was not automated or from a paid service.  My wife translated our home study since Chinese is her primary language. It was also certified by TECO that it was translated correctly.

Like I said in my previous post, there is no oversight at all in any of these agencies.  The Taiwan social worker and supervisor didn't even bother to look at our US home study and the Chinese translation.  They used their notes from their visit which was completely wrong. The Taiwan Court system also didn't even bother to look at our US home study and the Chinese translation and compare it to the Taiwan social workers report. Makes we wonder why we even bother to get all our documents translated and certified if no one is going to look at it. All the money that we spent on notarizing and certifying could have fed a whole an orphan child for like 4 years.

So now we have to wait for another 2 weeks for social services to get their corrected report to the court so we can get our final decree. Time until we get final decree ... ???

After experiencing this first hand - I can almost see why adoptions take so long.  People just don't realize the only ones who are truly hurt are the children.  If adoptions were not so long and drawn out - I am sure many more children would be adopted. Children would get adopted when they are infants instead of toddlers.  Children would not be stuck in orphanages most of their life because they are a little older than what prospective parents are looking for.

I am glad that my wife is still a citizen of Taiwan - she can complain to her government agencies about this. The audacity of this social worker and his supervisor to blame my wife.

When our adoption is completed and we are on our way back home to the US - we are sending in our complaints to them and the Taiwanese media outlets.  It is horrible that they let people like this work in these positions which affect the lives of children in need of loving homes.

If I were to make errors on my job, I would get yelled at for probably an hour and find myself unemployed the next day. It makes me angry to see slackers who have jobs while the guy next door, who puts their heart and soul into their work are unable to find work or lose their jobs due to layoffs.  Maybe they need to be the ones eating the scraps of food that get thrown out for the dogs (I saw this on my last trip to Taiwan - very sad, I will explain in another post).
